Additional Character Slots
I'm sorry, but the search button wont let me search ^^.
So...if anyone can answer this I'll be thankful for that.
Will ArenaNet offer additional character slots to be bought for Guild Wars: Factions? ex: Would you be able to buy a key to put onto your account to get one more slot?
Thanks in advance for answering.
Sorry if I didn't search, as the button isn't working .

They haven't announced anything like that and I doubt they will, but who knows.

You can put your factions key onto your Prophecies account and attain 2 more character slots. Separate, each would have 4 character slots.
EDIT:
Read your question a bit wrong, but no - they have said they will not sell extra character slots. Can't remember where I read that...

If you add your Faction key to your existing account you will get 2 extra slots and you can travel to both CH1 & CH2 areas. If you don't link keys you will have 4 slots and can't travel between both chapters.
linked accounts/keys
6 slots = 100% access to content
seperate accounts
8 slots = 50% access to content

They said no, but then sounded like they were changing their mind, seeing not so much the fact some us are squeezed up against it, but the dollar signs.
So net net - who knows what ANet will decide.
edit - oh god, could we stop with the marketing hype, new/fuzzy math posts?
The OP had a simple question, lets keep it to 'can I buy more slots' PLEASE...

simply put the answer is NO for the forseeable future in spite of the wishful thinking of some people

I'd agree there - not the forseeable future no.
My point is that where it was a solid NO, Gaile in more recent logs seemed to suggest ANet wouldnt mind pocketing more real $ and now perhaps a possibility.

Additional Character Slots for Factions!
I really enjoyed participating in the Guild Wars Factions Beta event. I was also delighted to discover that there were four slots available in the new account I temporarily opened! How exciting! I completely fell for the four characters that I am unable to use, the Necromancer, Mesmer, and of course the Assassin and Ritualist. I can hardly wait for the opening on April 28th! I have already purchased my preorder But then, I discovered on the website that i will only be allowed two additional character slots instead of four! How can this be? Why must I have a completely different account in order to play all the characters? I do not understand. I am not looking forward to choosing between having two accounts, and being able to have two additional characters... What a bother, finding the perfect item for another character and being unable to access that character's storage! Drat and double drat! I do not think it is fair to penalize loyal players who want to have the ability to bring there beloved Tyrian characters to Cantha. My Ranger, Lady Conija, is simply DYING for a white tiger as a pet! I beg you, Anet, please reconsider and grant all players the additional slots!!! After all how difficult would it really be to put two more little portraits on the log in screen? Besides, with such excellent characters to play, who wouldn't love the ability to be able to play a character from each primary profession?
Hopefully,
Lady Conija

thanks u for make me lose my vision reading this post...
it has been discussed everywhere with gaile and developers.
additional slots if u merge are 2. "two more little portraits in the log screen" is an additional cost for ncsoft, so yea it's not easy in a game without any fee.

I hate this. Why in HELL did anet make this choice. Why do they punish people that combine them? It doesn't make any sense whatsoever!
If anyone from Anet is reading this, please, take my advice and hire someone that knows math.
4+4=6 isn't right, not any day of the week!

well it kinda compensate for the people who will just get factions or get both games on a seperate account.
Factions only: can't travel to Prophecies
Prophecies and Factions: Can travel to both continents plus have an access to both games items and missions

Just how many slots do we get?!!
Okay, before you say read the *bloody* faq, please bear with me...
I just read this from Gaile:

Hope this is helpful info, and thanks for the good questions.
|
okay, so now I AM REALLY CONFUSED... My prior understanding of how this works from the faq is that if I currently own Prophesy and then bought faction post-4/28, I can:
1. link the two, in which case I will have 6 character slots with access to both continents
2. don't link the two, in which case I will have 4 character slots with access to Tyria only and 4 character slots with access to Cantha only.
I hope that it's the case that Gaile made a minor mistake (no problem, it happens) instead of a limitation that we can only have 2 character slots with access to both continents...

Indeed, it's because they can, and because they don't think of what it means. Sorry, but I'm freaking mad at this.
Why are Anet so GODDAMNED stingy with the slots?!
Is it so hard to just give us 4+4??

You get double the content + 2 more slots, 1 for each new class. Simple. With only Factions you get 1/2 the total content and 4 slots...the same as the original game. Simple. I don't see how people are confused about this. This is the decision ANet made, so just live with it.

If you link you get 6 slots and access to Tyria and Cantha, meaning your existing characters can cross over to Cantha and Faction can go to Tyria.
If you don’t link you get 4 characters in Tyria and 4 character in Cantha and none will be allowed to cross over.
Those who pre-order wont get the 6 slots total in the 24 hour head start, we will need the retail cd-key to get the total of 6 slots.

If you keep them apart, but get friends to transfer (which is a hassle), you also get double content and +2 slots.
Why do I have to sacrifice slots to combine? Why do I get punished? Why can't people who buy both be REWARDED for combining them?

You are rewarded. You get a new game plus all the stuff from your old game able to be played in the new game. You get two games merged into one bigger game.

I dont see how people see this as fuzzy math. Its very simple.
The 2 slots are really bonuses. If you truly pay attention to how they set it up you might begin to wonder why they even plan to give those 2 bonuses.
Example:
Prophecies has 4 slots. Now add the Free Sorrows Furnace Expansion (The only real expansion so far). No new slots.
Why are there no new slots with the SF expansion??? Because its still the same account, same characters, but access to more content. Note that its free.
---------------
When you merge accounts, Factions is NO LONGER A SEPERATE GAME. It becomes an EXPANSION.
Therefore those 4 slots are NEGATED by your 4 pre-existing characters.
It becomes ONE account, with MORE content for those 4 pre-existing characters.
----------------
Full game cost: $50.
Expansion pack cost $30
2 more playable slots: $20
Voila. Theres your fuzzy math.

Speaking of which, how do you merge accounts? I assume you input the code while logged into your current account, can you do this with the "main" pre-order key? Then recieve the 2 spaces now (but obviously wait till factions to use them!)
